Architectural Education Institutions: French architecture schools are very selective because they have a very limited capacity. The admissions committee evaluates the academic record, knowledge of French, motivation, study plan, demonstration of skills and/or ability in architecture (quality projects, personal drawings, etc.). There are several types of architectural education institutions in France:
20 National Superior Schools of Architecture (ENSA, public),
The Special School of Architecture in Paris (ESA, private),
The National Institute of Applied Sciences in Strasbourg (INSA Strasbourg, recruitment through competition after Bac +1 or CPGE).
Structure of Studies
Architectural studies follow the LMD scheme:
Bachelor's degree (3 years): Diploma in Architectural Studies,
Master's degree (2 years): State Diploma in Architecture,
Doctorate (3 years): Doctorate in Architecture.
